Stolen car found being scrapped in Port of Spain

Police recovered a vehicle in Port of Spain that had been stolen at gunpoint in Arima.

The vehicle, a white Nissan Cefiro, was reported stolen on Tuesday morning along Tumpuna Street, Arima, in the vicinity of Fine Choice Meats.

No injuries were reported in this incident.

The police were notified and officers of the Northern Division Special Investigations Unit, as well as the Stolen Vehicles Squad conducted inquiries under the supervision of Sgt Rene Katwaroo.

Over the next 48 hours, officers received intelligence which led them to a home along Quarry Street, Port of Spain, where they found the vehicle.

The vehicle was being scrapped in the garage of the home.

As a result, a 24-year-old man who was in the garage at the time was immediately arrested and is aiding with inquiries.
