Surinamese woman held in Piarco with $2M in drugs

A Surinamese woman was reportedly held by police after close to five kilogrammes of cocaine, valued at almost $2 million, was found in her luggage.

The TTPS tweeted the information on Tuesday that the 36-year-old woman was booked on a flight bound for Barbados via Caribbean Airlines flight BW412.

Police said they seized 4.78 kilogrammes of cocaine and 14 kilogrammes of marijuana from her suitcase around 7:55 am on Tuesday.

The cocaine was valued at $1.9 million while the marijuana was valued at $140,000.
