Suspect allegedly caught wearing stolen shoes
A 22-year-old man is expected to appear before a Sangre Grande Magistrate on allegations of larceny after he was allegedy caught wearing the stolen items.
Loop News was told that the accused reportedly stole over $10,000 in clothing over the weekend. He was reportedly found wearing the clothing on Monday morning, less than two days later.
The victim told police that he secured a quantity of clothes in a suitcase at his home just off the Toco Main Road, in Sangre Grande, on Saturday morning.
However, around 2pm on Sunday, he realized the suitcase and the items within were missing.
These items included one pair of Jordan sneakers, valued $2,500; two pairs of Converse sneakers, each valued $450; one pair of Toms valued at $300, and other items.
The police were notified and investigations were conducted by the Eastern Division’s Special Operations Unit and Sangre Grande CID.
CCTV footage was viewed, persons were interviewed and information received.
On Monday, the officers received information and proceeded to Machac Trace, off Foster Road, Sangre Grande, where they met the 22-year-old.
The suspect, who is from La Seiva Ext, off the Toco Road, was seen wearing some of the stolen items. The shoes, police said, stood out, which led to the man being stopped.
He was cautioned and detained.
A subsequent search of his house resulted in the seizure of the other stolen items.
The suspect has since been charged by PC Samuel.
The operation also included Cpl Ramnarine, PC Cielto, and PC Singh, among others.
