Suspect in custody for prison officer's murder
One man is currently in police custody for the murder of prison officer Richard Sandy.
The suspect was held at his home on Tuesday afternoon by a team of officers from the central division under the supervision of Snr Sup McIntyre.
The officers, acting on information received, made their way to the home where they facilitated the arrest.
He is expected to be questioned in relation to the allegations of the death of the prison officer.
Sandy died less than a day before his 47th birthday.
He was shot at a bar in Gasparillo just after 9 pm on October 7.
He succumbed to his injuries around 4:20 a.m. on October 8, at the San Fernando General Hospital.
CCTV footage from businesses surrounding the bar have been acquired and statements have been taken from relevant witnesses.
