Suspect held after attempted sexual assault at Scarborough library

The Scarborough Library was closed to the public on Tuesday after a man allegedly tried to sexually assault a staff member there. 

According to a statement issued by Tobago Library Services on Tuesday, the library was closed from 12:00 noon on Tuesday after the incident occurred. 

According to the statement, the security firm assigned to the library was immediately notified and was able to detain the suspect, who is now in the custody of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service. 

All members of staff were immediately invited to a mandatory debriefing session, conducted by Social Worker, Carlette Groome-Matthew and Donnalyn Harry from the Community Social Services Division of the Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development.

The Scarborough Library will resume its normal operations on October 31, 2018.
