Suspect held after TSTT cables stolen

A 24-year-old man is in custody, having been linked to the larceny of cables belonging to TSTT.

According to police reports, around 12.47 am on Saturday, Estate Constable Sprott of the TSTT police, was on duty when he got information that there was a cut in the cable along the Southern Main Road in Rousillac.

As a result, the constable, in company with other officers, responded and went to the location where on arrival they observed three men attempting to load a quantity of black cable into a white Nissan B15.

Upon seeing the said officers, the men made good their escape in the nearby bushes.

The La Brea police were contacted, and a team of officers led by PC Seepersad and PC Dyer, responded. An immediate search for the suspects was conducted, but they could not be located.

In the abandoned car, the officers found and seized 100 meters of 400 pair distribution cable valued at TT$14,499.

Enquiries were conducted and police have since detained a 24-year-old man from Ciper Railway Line, Ste Madeleine.

More arrests are said to be imminent.
