Man aiding with enquiries into alleged 'PH' taxi rape case

Passengers are urged to exercise caution after yet another report was received by police of a woman being sexually assaulted by men pretending to be 'PH' taxi drivers.

Police said one man is currently aiding with inquiries following a report that a 29-year-old woman was abducted, robbed, and sexually assaulted, last week.

The suspects, police were told, were pretending to be PH drivers.

The woman told police that at about 6:00 am on Wednesday she entered a dark blue car, registration unknown, at the Morvant Quick Shoppe.

While proceeding along the roadway, a man pulled out a firearm and announced a hold-up.

He then proceeded to relieve the woman of her cash, jewellery, and handbag.

She said she was then taken to a busy area in Aranguez where she was sexually assaulted.

She was then forced back into the car and driven to Port of Spain, where she was released in the vicinity of the abattoir.

The woman then raised an alarm and notified the police.

Enquiries are ongoing.

More on this as it becomes available.
