Suspect held in connection with Venezuelan mother's killing
A suspect has been held for the death of Venezuelan mother of four, Katherine Diaz.
According to police reports the suspect, a Venezuelan national, was detained on Tuesday and is currently aiding police through the use of a translator.
He was said to have been hiding in some bushes along King Street, Princes Town – a short distance away from where the 26-year-old woman was fatally stabbed.
Diaz, a mother of four children aged 12, seven, five and three, was a Venezuelan national herself.
She arrived in Trinidad by boat seven days before she was fatally stabbed by a man known to her around 4:00 am on Sunday at an apartment along King Street, Princes Town.
She suffered injuries to her abdomen, leg, back and arm.
Despite being rushed for medical treatment, Diaz died at the Princes Town District Hospital around 6:00 am that day.
