Shooting victim under police guard at hospital

A 28-year-old man is currently warded under police guard at the Port of Spain General Hospital as inquiries continue into the killings of a police sergeant and a 37-year-old woman.

Natoya Christian, 37, of Mentor Alley, Laventille, and Sergeant Roger Williams, 50, of Serraneau Road, Belmont, were fatally shot on Saturday night along Charlotte Street, Port of Spain.

Two other persons, including the 28-year-old and a 46-year-old woman were injured in this incident.

The woman, who is a vendor from Diego Martin, has since been treated and released.

However, the 28-year-old man, from Eastern Quarry Laventille, suffered more serious injuries.

Police have since received intelligence that the shooters came for the 28-year-old, and the other three victims were just “collateral” in their attack.

As a result, the 28-year-old is expected to be questioned as inquiries continue.

Moe on this as it becomes available.
