Suspect in Wallerfield/Arima shootings arrested

A 25-year-old man is expected to appear before an Arima Magistrate today after a firearm was found in his house. 

The suspect, who is from Jacob Hill, Wallerfield, was held during a police exercise conducted by officers of the Northern Division Task Force. 

The officers, acting on intelligence received following a series of shootings and homicides in the Arima and Wallerfield communities, executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home at about 6am on Sunday. 

They found and seized a .38mm revolver loaded with five rounds of ammunition. 

The man has not been officially charged with the murders but is being questioned in connection with the incidents. 

The exercise was spearheaded by Sgt Mascall, Cpl Gentle, PC Brewster, WPC Caruth, PC Strachan, PC Mohan and other officers.
