Suspect wounded during robbery attempt

One of three male suspects was wounded yesterday during the attempted robbery of a fruit stall vendor on M1 Tasker Road, Princes Town.

According to reports, two men, one armed with a firearm, entered the fruit stall around 4pm.

They announced a hold-up and the armed suspect, pointed the firearm at the victim.

The victim wrestled with the assailant in an attempt to subdue him.

During the struggle a shot was fired and the suspect was wounded on his right leg.

The vendor ran to safety in some nearby bushes while the suspects escaped on foot.

They later entered a waiting vehicle on Cedar Hill Estate Road, Princes Town.

The vehicle was subsequently intercepted by police along Cipero Road, Golconda and the three male occupants, all in their twenties, were arrested.

The wounded suspect is currently at San Fernando General Hospital in stable condition.
