Suspected car thieves held with gun

Three men, wanted for a series of car robberies in the Northern Division are currently in police custody after they were held in Port of Spain with a loaded revolver.

The men, aged 20, 22, and 25, from Beetham Gardens and San Juan, were arrested on Wednesday along South Quay, Port of Spain, near Maraj Jewellers.

According to police reports, around 11.30 am, officers of the Port of Spain Division received a report that a vehicle which had been reported stolen in Trincity had been spotted in the area.

Officers from the Port of Spain Task Force, under the supervision of Inspector Powder responded.

When they visited the location, they observed the vehicle near the jewellery store.

The car was intercepted and searched and the loaded weapon was found in the vehicle.

As a result all three men were arrested.

They are expected to be placed on identification parades on Thursday.
