Tacarigua woman killed in accident with off-duty officer
A police constable is said to be aiding officials with their inquiries into the death of a 64-year-old woman following a motor vehicular accident on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Monica Gilbert of Tacarigua.
According to police reports, the incident took place at about 4:30 am on Sunday at the intersection of the Priority Bus Route and Dinsley Main Road.
Gilbert was said to be driving her vehicle along the main road when upon reaching the vicinity of the bus route, she came into contact with another vehicle which was proceeding in an easterly direction.
She died as a result of the injuries sustained during the accident.
The driver of the vehicle, said to be an off-duty police officer attached to the North Eastern Division, was rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex and is being treated.
