TATT grants three-month extension for US free-to-air networks
The Telecommunications Authority (TATT) has granted a request from subscription television providers for a further three-month delay on the enforcement of intellectual property rights against those that continue to air US free to air networks ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX. Enforcement will now commence after March 31, 2020.
TATT issued a public notice which said the extension of the forbearance period will better allow local subscription service providers to procure suitable replacement content.
"The Authority, as regulator, considers breaches of Intellectual property rights as serious and will take action against broadcasters for breaching their concession and the Copyright Act," the notice said.
Concessionaires have been notified of TATT's intention to enforce against subscription television broadcasters who continue to air US Free to Air Networks beyond March 31, 2020.
