Taxi driver beaten during dispute in Rio Claro
A dispute over a vehicle has led to a 46-year-old man being attacked in Rio Claro.
The victim has been identified as Deryck Ramdial, a taxi driver from Rio Claro.
According to police reports, at about 9:00 am on Tuesday, Ramdial was at Andy’s Auto Body Garage, located at Ravine Village, Rio Claro, when he met an acquaintance.
The two, police were told, have an ongoing disagreement over a vehicle.
However, during Wednesday's argument, things turned physical and the assailant grabbed a metal bar and beat Ramdial with it.
The taxi driver was struck on his left arm with such force that his bones were broken.
The assailant then fled the scene.
The injured man drove himself to the Rio Claro Health Facility where he was treated and transferred to the Sangre Grande Hospital.
A report was made to the police.
The officers made their way to the garage however, the suspect was not there.
Police also seized the piece of metal which was allegedly used in the attack.
Sgt Mahabir is continuing inquiries.
