An 18-year-old is expected to appear before an Arima Magistrate on Thursday after he allegedly chopped a 52-year-old man.
The incident reportedly took place on March 3, at Albrosco Road, Malabar.
Police were told that at about 5:30 pm on that day, the 52-year-old victim was at his business place when the suspect asked him for a cutlass to open a coconut.
The 52-year-old told police that after he handed the suspect the blade, he was suddenly attacked and suffered chop wounds to his left shoulder and wrist.
The assailant then fled the scene.
The victim was rushed to the Arima District Health Facility where he was treated and then transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.
The following day, a team of officers, led by WPC Paul-Peters in company with PC Torres and PC Singh, received key intelligence which led them to Benny Street, D’Abadie, where the teenage suspect was arrested.
He was questioned and charged.
