Teen to be interviewed on doctors’ kidnapping
Investigators are expected to interview a 17-year-old boy this week on his role in the kidnapping and killing of Dr Rudradeva Sharma.
The suspect, who is from Lady Hailes Avenue, San Fernando, was discharged from the San Fernando General Hospital last Friday, into his mother’s care.
He was said to be partially paralyzed.
One man, Antonio Francois, 19, has been charged for the murder of Dr Sharma and Akeem Marine – one of the men who kidnapped the doctor.
Police said at about 11.58 pm on January 14, Dr Sharma, 39, and Dr Prem Vijay Naidoo, 37, were attacked by the three men near Rushworth Street Extension, San Fernando.
The attackers forced them into the trunk of a white Honda CRV and headed north along the Solomon Hochoy Highway.
According to reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle near Claxton Bay and the vehicle flipped several times.
Dr Sharma succumbed to his injuries at the scene while Dr Naidoo and the three suspects were taken to hospital for treatment. Dr Naidoo has since been discharged.
Police said a firearm was recovered at the scene.
Marine of Lady Hailes Avenue, San Fernando, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Francois and the teenager have since been discharged.
