Teen charged for shooting with intent
A 15-year-old boy from Caroni is expected to appear in the Port of Spain Children’s Court today charged with shooting with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The teenager was also charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Joan Honore Paul last Friday.
The minor was held and subsequently charged in connection with the February 28 murder of 23-year-old Nicholas Janet.
Janet was being driven along Emerald Drive, La Paille Village, Caroni, by a friend, when they were approached by two male suspects armed with guns.
The suspects fired several shots at the victims, which resulted in Janet’s death and the driver sustaining several gunshot injuries.
Investigations resulted in the 15-year-old being arrested by officers of the Caroni Police Station, on the same date of the incident.
Charges were laid by WPC Callender-Sinclair of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region 3.
