Teen in court for stabbing in South Park

A 19-year-old man has appeared before a San Fernando Magistrate for stabbing another individual in South Park Mall car park over the weekend.

The accused is Tyrese Calliste of South Oropouche.

He appeared before Senior Magistrate Jo-Anne Connor on Wednesday, charged with maliciously wounding his victim, who had been stabbed in the back following a confrontation at the South Park Mall.

Calliste was represented by attorney Frank Gittens while the State was represented by police prosecutor Cleyon Seedan.

After the charge was read, bail was granted at $20,000 on the condition that the accused not have any interactions with the victim at all, including via social media platforms and third parties.

The matter was then adjourned to September 26.
