Teen drowns in Clifton Hill

Around 3.30pm on Friday, 14-year-old Jervon Sanchez chased a ball into the waters off Guapo Beach, Clifton Hill.

He got into difficulties and disappeared into the waters and subsequently drowned.

His body washed up some two hours later, an estimated 250 feet from where he disappeared.

Sanchez, who is from the Cedros community, was playing with a group of friends when he chased a ball into the sea.

That was the last time he would be seen alive.

His body washed ashore at about 5.12 pm and despite efforts to resuscitate, Sanchez remained unresponsive.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Point Fortin District Hospital.
