Teen may face charges in relative's shooting

A 15-year-old is aiding police with inquiries after a shooting incident in Balandra.

The teenager, police said, is potentially facing charges of wounding with intent.

According to reports, around 3.30 pm on Friday, the teenager and a relative, a 45-year-old man from Toco, were in a pirogue in the waters of Balandra.

The two, police were told, went fishing.

While on the boat, it was alleged that the 15-year-old pulled out a firearm and confronted the older man.

The 45-year-old resisted, during which the firearm went off twice.

During the struggle, the teenager was thrown overboard.

He managed to swim to the shore, while the wounded relative also made his way to the shoreline.

The injured man raised an alarm and was rushed for medical treatment, while the 15-year-old was detained while trying to flee the scene.
