A 13-year-old boy was brutally slapped during a robbery in Valencia on Saturday.
Eastern Division police are investigating reports after a 53-year-old man and the boy were among those robbed at gunpoint.
The thieves, police said, were armed with cutlasses and firearms.
Police said that around 9.00 pm on Saturday, the 53-year-old businessman was conducting sales in the presence of his wife, a customer and the 13-year-old when four men entered the premises and announced a hold-up.
The assailants then assaulted the 53-year-old and his customer as they demanded cash and cigarettes.
The 13-year-old, police were told, was also slapped by the assailants.
After the thieves emptied the cash register and took cigarettes, as well as the customer's wallet, they fled the scene.
A report was made, and WPC John is continuing inquiries.
