Teenager held with firearm in Sangre Grande

A 17-year-old boy was due to appear before the Children’s Court in Port of Spain this week after he was held with a firearm.

The teenager was held with a Smith and Wesson special revolver, loaded with five rounds of .38mm ammunition in a police exercise which was conducted in Sangre Grande.

According to police reports, the exercise was conducted under the coordination of Snr Sup Belfon, and supervised by Sgt Edwards and Sgt Ramlakhan.

The officers received key intelligence which led them to a home along Buttercup Avenue at the North Eastern Settlement, Sangre Grande, where they had cause to search the teenager.

The loaded weapon was found on his person.

As a result, he was arrested and taken to the booking Center in St Joseph which deals with cases involving minors.

LoopTT was also told that in this same exercise, officers arrested a 33-year-old man and a 24-year-old man, both from Robinson Ln, Guaico, on inquiries into a homicide.
