Teenager, two others injured in shootings

An 18-year-old was rushed to hospital after a shooting in Arima on Tuesday night.

According to police reports, the victim, who is from Bon Air Gardens, Arouca, was said to be seated in the passenger side of a black Nissan B15 around 8.40 pm on Tuesday, which was proceeding along Pope Avenue, Arima, when the car was shot at by unknown persons.

A man was seen at the side of the roadway fleeing the scene on foot.

The teenager, police said, was shot to his back and waist.

The driver escaped unharmed.

The police and paramedics were notified and the injured teen was rushed for medical treatment.

He was warded at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex up to 8am today, in a serious but stable condition, police said.

Crime scene investigators found six spent shells at the scene of the shooting.

Two shot in Port of Spain

In a separate incident, two persons are warded in a serious condition at the Port of Spain General Hospital following a shooting incident along George Street, Port of Spain on Wednesday night.

According to police reports, the two victims were liming along George Street, when at about 8pm they were approached by a gunman.

The man opened fire on the two without warning, before fleeing through a nearby track that connects the apartment buildings along the roadway.

Persons in the area notified the police and the two injured men were both rushed to the hospital.

Police have no motive for the incident.
