Temporary traffic changes to take effect in Arima for three months

The Ministry of Works and Transport (MOWT) has announced traffic restrictions to Arima beginning August 27 and expiring on November 26.

These regulations may be cited as the Traffic Control (Experimental Scheme) (Arima) (No. 2) Regulations, 2018.

Maxi-taxi drivers shall not park on the

(a) Eastern side of Quesnel Street, one hundred metres from the Eastern Main Road;

(b) Eastern and western side of Quesnel Street, one hundred metres north of Cocorite Road; and

(c) Eastern side of Quesnel Street, eighty metres south of Cocorite Road.

Any person who contravenes these regulations is liable on summary conviction for a first offence to a fine of $750.00 and on any subsequent conviction to a fine of $1000.00.

Without prejudice to any other liability incurred by the commission of a summary offence, vehicles found parked in contravention of these regulations may be removed by the Police and impounded and dealt with in accordance with section 108(1)(b) of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act.
