Terror in Princes Town: Gunmen send couple scampering

Police are investigating the circumstances under which a couple was attacked in Princes Town on Saturday night.

The incident reportedly took place at Inverness Road, Princes Town, around 10:30 pm on Saturday.

The couple was said to be outside their home when they saw two men unknown to them.

Without warning, the men, police were told, pulled out firearms and shot at the couple.

The man ran into nearby bushes to evade the assailants, while the woman reportedly ran to the couple’s Nissan Wingroad station wagon and locked the door.

The assailants approached the car and hit the vehicle with their hands.

While they threatened the woman, they eventually walked away, leaving her alone.

They escaped in a vehicle which was parked nearby.

The police and emergency health services were notified and the woman was rushed for medical treatment, as she suffered an injury to her foot while attempting to flee the scene.

Sgt Malloo is continuing inquiries.
