Threats against law enforcement officials being made across social media are currently under investigation.
Confirmation came from Acting Leader of Government Business Clarence Rambharat during Thursday’s sitting of the Parliament.
Following days of city-wide protests in Port-of-Spain and tension following the fatal shooting of three men in Second Caledonia, Morvant, last weekend, threats have been made against officers of the law.
Rambharat indicated that these threats are engaging the attention of the police.
“The Police Service has been working with other arms of national security in analysing the posts being shared and circulated on social media. Once these are analysed, the necessary responses will be employed.”
“As these are sensitive issues of national security, nothing further can be said on the matter at this time,” he added.
Government has already indicated that mediation and outreach is underway in the communities engaging in protests.
