Three in court for marijuana trafficking
Three men are expected to appear before a magistrate on Monday on allegations of possession of marijuana for the purposes of trafficking.
The three, aged 28, 55, and 62, were held during police exercises in Biche and Siparia.
In one exercise, between 6 pm and 10 pm on Friday, officers of the Biche Police Station, led by Sgt Bhim, conducted exercise in the area.
They had cause to stop and search a vehicle which was occupied by a 55-year-old man from La Plata Village, Valencia, as well as a 62-year-old man from Charma Village, Biche.
In the car, the officers found and seized 1080 grammes of compressed marijuana.
The two men were arrested as a result and charged by PC Mendoza.
In the other incident, officers of the Siparia CID, led by Sgt Jaggernath, were on exercise duty when they received information which led them to Sennon Village, Siparia.
The officers had cause to stop and search a 28-year-old man, and they found and seized a black plastic bag which contained 55 transparent plastic packets each containing a quantity of marijuana.
They also found a quantity of cash.
As a result of the find, the suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
WPC Joseph has since charged the suspect.
Also involved in the exercise were PC Sookdeo, and PC Moolchan, and other officers of the Siparia CID.
