Three held for drunk driving in Port of Spain
Three persons, including a bank teller, were arrested on Sunday night for driving under the influence. Two others were held for possession of marijuana.
The five individuals were held during a police operation by officers of the Port of Spain Division, between 8.00 pm and 11.00 pm on Sunday.
The exercises were launched as a result of recent reports of accidents and infractions following Sunday afternoon boat cruises and parties, and similar operations are expected to take place towards the end of the year.
Among those held was a 28-year-old woman, who is a bank teller at Republic Bank; a 56-year-old businessman from Belmont; and a 31-year-old labourer.
Of the two men held for marijuana, one suspect police said, was a known robbery offender.
He was held during the routine roadblock, however, due to the location of the stop – within 500 meters of a school – he will be charged with the offence of trafficking.
The exercise was supervised by DCP Williams, and included ASP Sooker, Sgt Bharath, Cpl Arthur, and others.
More on this as it becomes available.
