Three of the 11 persons arrested last Tuesday during a raid at homes in Pleasantville will spend the weekend in custody as they have been denied bail.
Sixty- six –year- old Ainsley Khan, 62- year- old Andre Khan and 40- year- old Marvin Khan, all appeared before Magistrate Natalie Diop.
They were charged with being in possession of a prohibited weapon, namely a sub-machine gun, as well as being in possession of 11 rounds of 9 mm ammunition, and possession of 122 grammes of marijuana.
The two elderly men were represented by defence attorney Subhas Panday, while attorney Sheldon Mycoo represented the interests of Marvin Khan.The State was represented by police prosecutor Veano Ragoo.
Ragoo, on noting the serious nature of the allegations, asked the court for some time to secure background tracings before the matter of bail was properly addressed.
After further submissions to the court, the matter was adjourned to Monday.
