Three held with firearm after robbery in San Juan

The swift response of officers of the Highway Patrol Unit resulted in the arrests of three men mere moments after they allegedly committed a robbery.

According to police reports, around 10 pm on Thursday, PC James and PC Laptiste, were conducting patrols on the Churchill Roosevelt

Highway, when they received an all-points bulletin of a robbery along Boundary Road, San Juan.

The officers were given a description of the ‘get-away’ vehicle as well as the suspects.

Moments later, the vehicle – a silver Nissan Tiida – was seen driving east along the highway.

The officers leapt into action and intercepted the car in the vicinity of the University of the West Indies in St Augustine.

The officers conducted a thorough search of the vehicle and found a Smith and Wesson pistol with three rounds of 9mm ammunition.

All three occupants of the car – a 23-year-old from Maloney Gardens, a 26-year-old from El Socorro, and a 36-year-old from Oropoune Gardens, Piarco – were detained as a result.
