Three remain in custody for abducting, raping two women

Three men, including a businessman, a labourer, and a mechanic, remain in custody on allegations of abducting, raping, sodomising and robbing two women.

An identification parade was carried out on Sunday, and investigators are hopeful that they will be able to charge and bring the three suspects before a San Fernando Magistrate by today.

The three, aged 27, 24 and 22, were arrested last Friday.

Police said that they are searching for a fourth man, and while up to 9am today he had not been held, arrests are imminent.

The allegations stem from an incident which occurred on December 30, 2018.

The two victims told police that they were awaiting transport following a party in San Fernando, when a Nissan Tiida pulled up alongside them.

The occupants of the car allegedly pulled out a firearm and ordered the women into the vehicle.

They were then allegedly taken to a lonely area along M2 Ring Road where they were sexually assaulted, beaten and robbed.

They were then released in Penal.
