Three suspects including teenager appear in court for cop’s murder
Even as PC Kryston Ramirez was being laid to rest, two adults and a 17-year-old boy were appearing before an Arima Magistrate charged with his murder.
The accused, Marvin Madoo 23, Alex Sumair, 20, and the 17-year-old, all appeared before Magistrate Avion Gill yesterday afternoon in the Arima Magistrates’ Court.
Madoo was represented by defence attorney Joshua Hamlet, while Sumair and the minor were represented by defence attorney Fareed Ali.
The attorneys made formal requests for disclosure of evidence which the Prosecution intended to rely upon during the preliminary inquiry, including interviews, statements, and even post mortem reports.
And while a normal note of the application was made, these requests would have to be addressed at the next court appearance as no State Attorney had yet to be appointed to the matter.
In addition to the murder charges, Sumair and the teenager also faced additional charges of firearm and ammunition possession
The matter is expected to resume on January 21.
Ramirez was shot and killed at Classy Sports Bar in Arima on December 16.
The three accused were charged by Sgt Lynch of Homicide Region 2.
More on this as it becomes available.
