Tobago businesses go styrofoam-free for World Environment Day
On Tuesday 5 June, countries, companies and individuals around the world will be celebrating World Environment Day 2018.
Some Tobago businesses are participating in World Environment day by championing a “No Styrofoam Day” themselves.
Restaurateurs and bar operators Crown Point, Castara and Charlotteville have pledged to be better stewards of the environment by utilising recyclable and/ or compostable alternatives to styrofoam in their business operations on the day. Restaurants in Castara and Charlotteville will even be extending the initiative throughout the week.
Patrons wishing to support the green businesses on the day can look out for green feather banners at the ‘green hotspots’ during the week.
Participating businesses in the Crown Point area who will ditch the styrofoam on June 5 include:
Darryl’s Famous Food, La Cantina, Jade Café, Roosters and Rotisserie Grill, Chef’s BBQ, Crusty Crabs, Flavour Pot, Flambowl, Scoops, Jenny’s Diner, Moody Smoothie, Bago Bar, Kafta’s, Good Eats, Al Wadi, Skewers and Mangia Café.
All Castara and Charlotteville restaurants will be taking part in the initiative from June 4 to June 8.
