Tobago man beaten, shot visiting female friend

Tobago police are investigating a shooting that has left a 35-year-old man hospitalised.

The incident took place around 8.20 pm on Wednesday at Calder Hall Road, Calder Hall, Tobago.

Police were told that the victim was on his way to visit a female friend when he was confronted by a man he knew.

The suspect, who was in the company of another man, asked the victim why he was visiting the woman.

During the confrontation, one of the men pulled out a firearm and dealt the 35-year-old several blows.

The victim attempted to fight back and the firearm discharged during the scuffle. He then felt a burning sensation in his groin.

The assailants fled the scene.

Persons in the area notified the police and a team of officers led by Cpl McMillan and PC Campbell responded.

The injured man was rushed to the Scarborough General Hospital where he was treated.

He is currently warded in a stable condition.

The scene was also visited by ASP Kirk and Cpl Moses.

W-Cpl Joefield is continuing inquiries.

Police said arrests are imminent.
