Tobago man held with over 100 kilos of cocaine, bound for New York

A 27-year-old man appeared before a Tobago Magistrate earlier his week on allegations of attempting to traffic over 100 kilogrammes of cocaine.

The accused is Kylon Baptiste of Sou Sou Lands, Tobago.

The matter was called before Magistrate Duane Murray in the Scarborough Magistrates’ Second Court.

The charge was laid indictably and Baptiste was not called upon to enter a plea.

After further submissions, the matter was adjourned to August 27.

Baptiste was held on July 21 at the ANR Robinson International Airport, after the drugs were allegedly found in two large suitcases.

The luggage was bound for the John F Kennedy International Airport in New York.

Police said the drugs had a street value of TT$29 million.
