Tobago ready for Carifesta activities
Tobago will begin its Carifesta activities from August 19 to 21 as the island is set to host its leg of the celebrations.
Representatives from Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Guyana, Haiti, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines will join the local contingent in Tobago for exhilarating performances and synergistic displays of the arts.
The three-day agenda will kick start with the Tobago Grand Market launch at the Milford Road Esplanade on Monday 19 at 10 am.
This will be followed by a series of events including a Salaka Feast at the Pembroke Heritage Park on August 19 and a Bonfire Experience at Castara Beach on August 20.
The celebrations will culminate with an Island Vibe Showcase at Shaw Park Complex on August 21. All events are free of charge and will commence at 7 pm nightly.
The Tobago Grand Market opens at 10 am to 6 pm daily and will feature a variety of food, fashion, the arts as well as live shows.
This biennial celebrations are being held under the theme “Connect, Share, Invest” and promises to be a sharing of both the tangible and intangible aspects of the Caribbean’s cultural heritage and development.
This unique platform creates the ideal avenue for artists and key interests to collaborate and exchange ideas; which will ensure an enriching and lasting experience for the practitioners whilst facilitating the advancement of the art forms.
