Tobago records 26 percent reduction in serious crimes

The Tobago Division continues to make strides in its crime-fighting initiatives, with a 26 percent reduction in reports of serious crimes this year, according to the police service.

Between January 1 and May 31, 2018, there were 288 reports of serious crimes in the district. The comparative toll for the same period last year was 389.

This figure is further bolstered as the Division, which is headed by Snr Sup Joanne Archie, has also seen a 37 percent detection rate for crimes reported in its district.

This means that of all crimes reported, almost half have seen persons arrested and brought before the courts.

The public is being thanked for working with the officers of the Tobago Division, and for providing information which has been key to the success of the police service.

As a result, they are also being encouraged to keep their partnership with the organization and to keep working towards reducing crime in the district.

More on this as it becomes available.
