Tobagonians fend off robber after argument over cakes

Tobago residents are being praised for running to the aid of a 42-year-old man who was attacked after an argument over cakes.

Police were told that at about 1:00 pm on Saturday, the victim, who is employed with the Kiss Baking Company, was at Darrell Spring, Scarborough, was delivering cakes to Becca’s Supermarket.

While there he was approached by a man. Police were told that an argument began over cakes that the man wanted, following which the victim attempted to leave.

However, he was then dealt a blow to the back of his head. The man then hit the 42-year-old in the face and attempted to rob the victim of cash he was carrying.

However, the victim fought back and a scuffle ensued.

People nearby, who observed what was happening, then came to the man’s aid and pulled the assailant off the 42-year-old man.

The suspect then fled the scene, however the victim made a report and PC Balfour is continuing inquiries.
