Toddler in serious condition after being struck with piece of wood

A fight between two women has left a 20-month old toddler with a fractured skull.

The incident took place along Freedom Street, Enterprise.

According to reports, around 10.30 am on Sunday, the toddler was in the arms of his 42-year-old grandmother, who got into a confrontation with a 36-year-old woman known to her.

Police were told that an argument broke out between the two women, who reportedly have an ongoing feud.

During the argument, the 36-year-old took up a piece of wood from the roadway to try to hit the 42-year-old.

However, she struck the toddler instead.

An alarm was raised and the child was immediately rushed for medical treatment.

Up to Wednesday morning, he remained warded in a serious condition at the Wendy Fitzwilliam Paediatric Hospital at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope.
