Top Cop meets Police Association executive
Police Commissioner Gary Griffith met with members of the executive of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Social and Welfare Association (TTPSSWA) at the Police Administration Building in Port-of-Spain on Thursday.
A statement from the TTPS noted that the meeting was "a matter of priority".
According to the release, Commissioner Griffith described this initial meeting as positive and stated that he intends to work closely with the Association in the interest of Police Officers and the national community.
The meeting was attended by President of the TTPSSWA, acting ASP Michael Seales; Vice President, acting Snr Supt Richard Corbett; Assistant Secretary, W/Cpl Cynthia Trim; Treasurer, acting Sgt Joshua Pierre and First Division Officer representative, ASP Wayne Mohammed.
Several items were on the agenda for discussion, among them the rebranding of the TTPS; promotions within the ranks of the First and Second Divisions; introduction of the use of non-lethal weapons with specific reference to tasers and pepper spray; implementation of the use of body-worn cameras and the development of safety and security operational plans for the upcoming Christmas period and Carnival 2019.
