Update: Heavy traffic after two highway accidents involving trucks

Update January 16, 2020, 12.35 pm:

Heavy traffic was reported as a result of two highway accidents, both involving trucks, which took place on Thursday.

According to initial reports, one truck overturned near Flowerline along the Uriah Butler Highway.

According to an update shared by the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government, the overturned truck was causing traffic build-up heading north along the UBH near Caroni.

The MORDLG said fire officers are at the scene. 

Motorists are advised to proceed with caution and pay close attention to the instructions of TTFS officials on the scene.

In a separate incident, reports were received of another accident involving what appeared to be a Kiss truck and two other vehicles near Claxton Bay along the southbound lane of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway.

There is as yet no information on how these incidents occurred or injuries sustained, however Loop News is reaching out to the authorities for details.
