Traffic disruption as work begins on Lady Hailes Avenue
Road works on the widening of the Lady Hailes Avenue are scheduled to begin from July 8, 2020, lasting until July 14, 2021, according to an update from the Ministry of Works and Transport.
MOWT stated in a release dated June 24 that the temporary traffic disruption will take place along Lady Hailes Avenue from Todd Street to Queen Street (King’s Wharf), San Fernando, in order to facilitate the upgrade and widening of Lady Hailes Avenue inclusive of the following:
- Rushworth Street Extension
- Ruth Avenue Extension
- Construction of a roundabout
- Construction of a pedestrian overpass and
- Shoreline protection works.
The Ministry said the work will take place from Monday to Saturday, 8.00 am to 4.00 pm.
The public is therefore advised to proceed with caution and observe all directional signs and barriers and to drive at a reduced speed on approaching the work zone.
The public is also urged to comply with instructions from police officers and to be aware of heavy equipment at the site.
Drivers should also proceed slowly on newly milled surfaces.
The Ministry said it apologises for any inconvenience and thanked the public for its cooperation.
