Traffic restrictions in place for Law Term opening
Citizens are advised of traffic restrictions in effect in downtown Port-of-Spain for the opening of the 2017-2018 law term on Monday.
The traffic restrictions take effect from 6am and end at 2pm.
Motorists are prohibited from parking on: a) St. Vincent Street, between Duke Street and Independence Square North b) Sackville Street, between Richmond Street and St Vincent Street c) Abercromby Street between Independence Square North and Park Street d) Knox Street between St Vincent Street and Frederick Street e) Edward Street between Independence Square North and Park Street f) Hart Street g) Duke Street between Frederick Street and Edward Street h) Pembroke Street between Knox Street and Park Street i) Henry Street between Independence Square North and Park Street j) Queen Street between Frederick Street and Edward Street and k) the Red House Grounds
However, drivers of Police Service and Defence Force vehicles are allowed to park on the eastern side of Edward Street, between Queen Street and Sackville Street.
Parking at the Red House grounds is prohibited.
A few streets have also been closed to vehicular traffic. Motorists are prohibited from proceeding along St Vincent Street between Duke Street and Queen Street; Hart Street; Abercromby Street between Independence Square North and Park Street and Knox Street between the hours of 9am and 1pm.
Commuters are advised that St James and St Ann’s taxi stands have been moved. St Ann’s taxi drivers will operate from the northern side of Queen Street, between Frederick Street and St Vincent Street.
St James taxi drivers will operate from the western side of Henry Street between Prince Street and Duke Street.
Vehicles found to be in violation of this order may be removed and impounded by any police officer in accordance with section 108(1)(b) of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act.
