Transport Minister promises upgrades to City Gate

Works and Transport Minister Rohan Sinanan said there are significant improvements required at Trinidad’s main transport hub, City Gate.

Minister Sinanan made the declaration as he toured the facility on Tuesday, alongside President of the Maxi Taxi Association, Eon Hewitt and President of the Red Band Maxi Taxi Association, Linus Philip, and their respective teams.

In a statement from the Transport Ministry, Minister Sinanan noted that better customer service was required to facilitate maxi drivers and daily commuters.

"Better customer service must now include a faster and more efficient bus and maxi taxi service, shorter queues, the availability of real-time information in the event of delays and regularly maintained facilities that are aesthetically pleasing to all users."

Minister Sinanan also stressed that taxpayers who use this facility on a daily basis ought to get value for money.

The statement also noted that the Board and Management of the PTSC has been tasked with identifying the issues to be amended that would improve travelling woes for the Maxi Taxi Association and travelling public.
