A former model who now owns his own model agency in New York is currently in Trinidad and Tobago looking for the next hot face.

Showin Bishop, a Trinidadian who has modelled in the fashion capitals of the world, is the owner of 28Models, an agency he founded in 2014.

Bishop is teaming up with Thrive International to conduct the model search at the VIP Lounge at Movie Towne, Port-of-Spain on Saturday from 12pm - 4pm.

Bishop told Loop he is looking for models from who are ready to hit the runways.

“Ready is the look, the face, the body, everything. Once I find the right person, I will get them ready. Getting a model ready is developing them, arranging shoots with the photographer, building a portfolio, then presenting them to agencies and clients around the world,” Bishop said.

Unlike most model searches that require models to dress in black tights and tanks tops, Bishop said he prefers models come in their own clothing so he could get a sense of their personality.

Bishop migrated from T&T ten years ago. He said he was working in sales but when the company was bought, he left and through the advice of a friend decided to try his hand at modelling. He said he was never scouted but great photos from a photo shoot are what got him through the door.

Bishop said he modelled in Paris, Milan and London doing runways and print campaigns.

Stating that modelling opened him up to experiences he would have never had otherwise such as travelling the world, Bishop said he wants to give others the opportunities to experience the same.

He said he always wanted to look for models in T&T but wanted his agency to be successful first.

“My girls are now walking the top shows in Europe.  Last season was when everything went crazy, we booked Prada, Calvin Klein…all the major clients were talking to us. That is when I decided then I would come to Trinidad,” he said.

The model search will also mark the launch of Trinbago Models a division of 28Models NYC. Bishop plans to assist with the development of the modelling industry here.
