Trinidad and Tobago to host World Inter Hash 2020
Trinidad and Tobago will host the World Inter Hash 2020.
It will be the first time the twin-island will be hosting this event.
Thousands of international trail runners are expected to descend upon T&T next year to participate in the event which runs from April 23 to 26.
Tourism Minister Randall Mitchell said there are many economic and social benefits that will be derived from the staging of Inter Hash 2020 in this country, as tour operators, hoteliers, Airbnb operators, taxi drivers and other stakeholders can benefit directly from services they provide.
Minister Mitchell said the event is also expected to “boost to the country’s visitor arrivals as more than thousands of people are expected to capitalise on sporting and events tourism in both islands.”
“The initiative is also expected to boost sports and eco-tourism in this country," he said.
Hashers, who range in ages from 45 to 80, will run through several communities, including Maracas, Arima, Gran Couva and Chaguaramas – where there will be a J’ouvert Run which will include our cultural tourism product offerings.
Over 2000 hashers from more than 75 nations have already registered to participate.
Hashing, which is a fun event, requires participants to run through various terrains- including beaches, hills, valleys, rivers, forested areas, cities and rural districts with friends which will allow them to view our natural attractions, flora and fauna along the way.
