Update: Riverine Flood Warning discontinued

Update: September 25, 2019:

A riverine flood warning which was issued by the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has since been discontinued. 

Although some flooding is still present, the Met Office said the waters are receding. 

"River levels have gradually decreased over the last 24 hours, resulting in the discontinuation of the riverine flood warning. Some areas are still inundated and flood waters will continue to recede as no significant rainfall is expected over the next few days."

Update September 23, 6.30 pm:

The Riverine Flood Warning which was previously at Red Level, has downgraded to Yellow Level.

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service says riverine flooding remains a possible threat for areas near major river courses and tributaries, however, river levels are gradually decreasing. More information:

Persons living near water courses and tributaries should continue to monitor weather conditions and river/water levels. Protect important assets and documents.

Do not take unnecessary risks and follow the instructions of government officials.

Here’s a look at today’s weather courtesy the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service:

Initially partly cloudy conditions with a few light to moderate showers will become increasingly cloudy between mid-morning and midday. Cloudy periods will be accompanied by intermittent moderate to heavy showers in varying areas. There is the medium to high chance of thundershowers occurring in varying areas. A few lingering showers are likely during the night.

Caution: Gusty winds, street and/or flash flooding may occur in areas under heavy showers and thunderstorms.

Adverse Weather Warning #4- Orange Level and Riverine Flood Warning #1- Red Level are both in effect.
