Trinidad and Tobago's weather: Chance of a thunderstorm

The public is urged to monitor an approaching tropical wave, which is due to pass over the Lesser Antilles on Wednesday.

Here's a look at today's weather courtesy the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service:

Sunny conditions interspersed with partly cloudy spells accompanied by occasional showers in a few areas.

There is a 40-60 per cent (medium) chance of heavy afternoon showers or isolated thunderstorms, especially favouring Tobago, northern and western Trinidad. Night is expected to be generally fair with one or two showers in a few areas.

Gusty winds and street/flash flooding may occur in the event of heavy showers or thunderstorms.


Partly cloudy to cloudy conditions accompanied by intermittent light or moderate showers in varying locations. 

These showers are likely to be heavy at times and there is a 60-70 per cent (medium to high) chance of isolated thunderstorms in some areas.

Seas are slight to moderate with waves from one to 1.5 metres in open waters and near calm in sheltered areas.
