Trio faces Magistrate for stabbing 41-year-old to death

Three labourers were remanded into custody after appearing before a Chaguanas Magistrate charged with the murder of 41-year-old Bissram Ramkissoon of Ramlogan Street, Uquire Road, Freeport.

The accused are 28-year-old Steven Singh of John Elie Road, Freeport; 43-year-old Frederick Clarence of Base Road, Freeport and 34-year-old Errol Cruikshank of John Elie Road, Freeport.

They appeared before Magistrate Rajendra Rambachan on Monday.

On November 18, Ramkissoon was found with a stab wound to his chest at John Persad Trace Extension, Freeport.

The trio was arrested between November 24, 2019, and November 26, 2019.

Investigations were supervised by Inspector Learie Figaro, Inspector Darryl Coorie and Sergeant Richardson Elvin of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region 3.

They were subsequently charged on November 28, 2019, by WPC Nancy La Rode also of HBI Region 3.

This follows advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Joan Honore-Paul on November 30, 2019.

The matter was adjourned to December 30, 2019.
